Rock Valley auction Thursday showed a pretty wide spread depending on quality. Utility hay moved from $42.50 to $107.50 per ton, Fair ranged $105 to $137.50, Good came in at $140 to $175, Premium sold from $175 to $215, and Supreme landed in a tight band between $180 and $182.50. As usual, quality made the biggest difference in where your loads ended up on the price scale.
No sales to report from our marketplace over the last 30 days, so if you have hay to move or are looking to buy, now is a good time to get a listing up or reach out directly.
On the crop side, Wisconsin first-crop harvest is about 70% complete as of the week ending June 7th according to USDA. That means a fair amount of hay is still in the field, so watch the weather closely as farmers push to finish up. No active drought flags to report for the region right now, which is good news for getting that last stretch cut and put up in decent shape.
