Premier Livestock & AuctionsWithee, WIWednesdays 9:30 AM
Wisconsin's largest livestock auction, around 25 semi loads of hay weekly, organic and conventional. Hay and straw consignments taken any day, sold Wednesdays. Their online reports run cattle-first, so for current hay prices it is best to call the barn.
Dyersville Hay & Straw AuctionDyersville, IA⚑ Surge watchWednesdays, deliver by 9 AM
The well-known Dyersville auction, now under a new outfit after the original Dyersville Sales Co held its final sale in 2024. Lots sell with RFV forage tests displayed, so tested hay earns its money here.
Surge watch, why prices may run higher: Historical pattern: under its prior operator during the 2018 southern drought and range fires, attendance climbed and utility grinding hay jumped roughly five-fold, from about $30 to $165 a ton. When Texas and Oklahoma dry out, those buyers reach this far north as local grass fails. Worth watching the weekly drought map.
Fort Atkinson Hay AuctionFort Atkinson, IAWeekly
A long-running weekly auction in northeast Iowa, about an hour from Westby. A practical second outlet for your own loads.
Mid-American AuctionSauk Centre, MNThursdays, twice monthly
A big central Minnesota hay sale with on-site DHIA forage testing for every seller, so your RFV travels with the load into the ring. Strong central Minnesota dairy demand.
